Clear PDF Access

Free PDF accessibility checker

Choose a PDF and get an instant, plain-English pass/fail report: is it tagged, does it have a title and a language, is it real text or a scan, are form fields labeled, do images have descriptions? You also get a price to fix it.

Your file never leaves your computer. The check runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Check a PDF

Or drag a PDF onto this box. Quick check only: see "What this checks" below.

What this checks (and what it doesn't)

This is a quick check, not a full PDF/UA or WCAG audit. It catches the problems that make most public PDFs unusable with a screen reader:

A file can pass this quick check and still have problems we can't detect automatically, such as wrong reading order, bad table structure, skipped heading levels, poor color contrast or unhelpful descriptions. Every file we fix is validated with veraPDF (PDF/UA-1) and checked by a person with a screen reader. Very long files are checked in detail for the first 100 pages; the price for the rest is estimated.

Have a lot of PDFs? Get a batch quote

Agencies usually have hundreds of PDFs. Tell us roughly how many and we'll send a fixed written quote. We can also scan your website and list every PDF that fails these checks, free.

FAQ: the April 2027 ADA Title II deadline

What is the deadline for accessible PDFs?

Under the U.S. Department of Justice ADA Title II web rule, state and local governments with 50,000 or more people must make web content, including PDFs, meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA by April 26, 2027. Governments under 50,000 people and all special district governments (water, sanitation, vector control and so on) have until April 26, 2028. The DOJ extended both dates by one year in an interim final rule published April 20, 2026 (Federal Register, ADA.gov).

Do PDFs count?

Yes. PDFs posted on a public entity's website are web content under the rule. There are limited exceptions, for example archived content and some documents posted before the deadline, but documents people still use to apply for or get services, such as current forms, are not exempt.

Is this checker a full audit?

No. It's a quick check of the most common problems. A full audit also checks reading order, tables, heading levels, contrast and the quality of descriptions.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser. The file isn't sent to us or stored.

How much does it cost to fix?

$4 per page for simple text pages, $5 for pages with images or scans, $6 for forms, tables and multilingual pages. A fixed-price 50-page pilot is $250. Larger batches get a written quote.

Do you offer monthly monitoring?

Yes. New PDFs go up every week, so passing once isn't enough. Each month we re-scan your website, fix new or changed PDFs up to your included pages, and send a pass report. Starting prices: Starter from $149/month (25 pages), Standard from $349/month (75 pages), Plus from $749/month (200 pages). Extra pages are billed at $4 / $5 / $6 per page. See plans.

What about clinics and health providers?

Providers that receive HHS funding and have 15 or more employees face a similar Section 504 deadline of May 11, 2027.
